Snowedin.net Design Goals

For the next revision of snowedin.net, I have the following design goals:

  1. Have a banner which I can change every few months as my whims blow about.
  2. White on black text, for readability.
  3. Allow rabbit-hole type browsing.
  4. Make it easy to abandon paths. This means going "up" a level, as well as to recently viewed pages in other parts of the site.
  5. Rich linking. It would be great if the Ideas section, the Photo gallery and the journal were more richly interconnected. This might mean:
    • Allowing [Wiki Links] in journal entries and Photos.
    • Having [blog:12/12/04 4:18pm] style wiki links.
    • Automatic linking to wiki pages.
    • Automatically create new blog entries of a special type whenever I create a new gallery. Then have the most recent gallery's photos show up in MT, so I could add things like [This is a photo for my mom|photo:formom.jpg] to journal entries (and Wiki pages and have them be all connected up.
