Sketches to be used for AbiWord interactive prototypes

Simple Prototype

Based on the AbiWord OLPC Feature Inventory, these are the functions I think we should include on the toolbar of the OLPC version of AbiWord:

• Font Formatting
• Bullet
• Numbered List
• Indent
• Outdent
• Insert Image
• Table Tools
• Undo
• Redo

I think we should try having kids use this without toolbar labels. I don't think the words will be any less foreign to out users than the icons. In addition, the menu and rulers will be turned off, and the only view mode available wil be the "Normal" view. Here's a mockup:

Advanced Prototype

The advanced prototype is the same as the simple one, but it implements these additional features:

• Files are automatically saved when users switch out of the tab.
• An additional clipart button is on the toolbar, which shows a clipart pane with labelled clipart items that can be dragged onto the document.
