Notes on Evolution, Ecology, and Optimization of Digital Organisms
pg 1: "symbiosis, host/parasite density dependent population"
I would be interested in seeing examples of this. Are organisms helping each other up the chain of complexity, or does it still just look like niche filling?
- It turns out, he means parasites which cannot reproduce except when other organisms copy them by mistake. This seems to be more an artifact of the global nature of reads in Tierra. I would still like to see an instance of an organism which is viable only in the context of another.
- Maybe my objection is that all they do is replicate. It's selectatorily presumtive.
pg 3: What is the difference between artificial selection and natural selection?
