Well, I didn’t do anything with the Rubyfruit website last night. In fact, I basically stopped being productive at all as soon as I updated this page. I overslept again today though, woke up at 12:30 and then got a lot done and went to work. I paid my fee bill, and talked to the UNIX account folks to get my email straightened out. Hopefully by tomorrow that will be working again. I picked up my prescription for Benzamycin, mailed Michael’s birthday video to him in Germany, and made a Doctor’s appointment for 11:20 tomorrow mornning. I called the UConn IRB regarding my independent study experiment and it turns out they flubbed it up and missed my last email. It’s not an issue though, as they will send out my approval tomorrow or early next week.
I am still way behind on independent study planning and nyspace.com web site work. I’m getting organized though.
Work, exchanged Niamh’s iBook for a fresh one, mailed my shoulder bag back to Jansport for service, ordered a Go board, attempted to convert Michael’s birthday video from WVM format to something non-ridiculous. Cleaned my room. Mailed payment for the parking tickets I got while in Boston for the summit. Found my photocopying receipts from last semester and submitted a request for reimbursement to the Jolt council. Figured out how much I need for my fee bill for the fall. Coincidentally got a call from Residential Life reminding me to pay it. Now I’m going to reboot into Windows and work on the Rubyfruit web site.
Woke up at noon [yesterday]. Wrote and
mailed a letter to Kate. Hopefully it will arrive before she comes home
on Saturday. Worked for the afternoon, went to visit Niamh, got back ten
minutes ago. Heading to bed.
Made a pork and string bean stir
fry for dinner yesterday. Sesame oil, dry mustard, and

made for an interesting flavor.
Last week I finished classes, did some star gazing with Lisa and some
of her NRME and extended friends. Went up to Tanglewood again this
weekend to hear Kate’s composition, which was fantastic. Back to work
again this week, and found Radiohead again. Issue of the moment is
priorities.
figured out that the sound card in my laptop isn’t busted after all. I just had the volume turned all the way down in hardware. Brilliant.
woke up around 1:00. Did some reading about XBox hacking. Mowed the lawn.
Listening lately to Illinois Jaquet Flies Again. I guess the album is kind of rare because it’s not on cdnow or amazon. I’ve been trying to play along with it, pick up the basslines and some of the piano parts. Tough work, fun and rewarding.
Niamh came over yesterday. She bought an iBook.
We made the mistake of not turning it on in the store. She brought it back to my house and we turned it on and the trackpad didn’t work. Pretty disappointing after I spent so much time building up how good the experience of pulling a new Apple computer out of the box is. We brought it back to the Co-op today and they figured out that it was the memory upgrade they installed that was causing the problems. I think perhaps it has something to do with hardware addresses in the system memory, but I’m not really qualified to say.
Regardless, she walked out of the store with a functional laptop this morning, so everyone’s happy.
